I previously showed you instructions to make a bulletin board.

I have a new plan. These are incredibly easy to make, even less expensive and can be made to any shape or size you want.

You will need:

A 4×8 sheet of Styrofoam insulation that can be purchased at any Lowe’s or Home Depot type store. You can find them in the insulation area. They cost from $5 to$8 for the sheet. They come in 4×4 size also.

Sharp knife.

Pins

Fabric (Preferably from Inweave, of course)

Use a sharp knife to cut the sheet to your specifications. I like things a little wonky so my shapes are not your normal square or rectangle.

Warning – You will have to deal with those tiny white bits of Styrofoam that stick to everything.

Cut your fabric about 3 inches larger on each side than the shape you are covering.

Then you simply pull the fabric snugly over the shape and pin it in place with stick pins.

Mitre the corners like you would wrap a gift. It keep things neater if you cut away any excess fabric in the corners.

TA DA! These are so simple to make. I made ten in a couple of hours. This would be a fun project for a group. 4H or Scouts? Boys might like camouflage or denim fabric.

We are using this as a fabric display, but I can think of so many uses. Message center, Christmas card display, the jewelry keeper, headboard for a bed. Frame a mirror in your bedroom with this and put jewelry on it or cover an entire wall, photo display, a red fabric heart for your valentine, the list goes on…

To mount them on the wall you could use finish nails, nails that have no head. Hammer a couple of those into your wall then poke them through the back of your project. This mount won’t hold a lot of weight so don’t hang too many diamond tiaras on it.

Don’t you love this fabric? I am having curtains made in the teal/charcoal. I’ll post a picture when they are finished.

The fabric I used can be found here on our website. So many fabrics would work it boggles the mind to think of the possibilities. I better quit now. I have enough problems without adding a boggled mind to the mix.

My sister Rhonda just completed a total bedroom redo.

She painted the walls, put in new wood floors and sewed all new bedding and curtains.

I like that she put the curtains all the way to the ceiling. It made the room seem taller.

She is very talented.

In her last home she took out a load bearing wall and put in a header to replace the support.

She can do just about anything she cares to attempt.

What do you think of her new bedroom? I love it. All the fabrics came from InWeave so Rhonda got a large discount for sharing her home with us on the blog. Thanks again Rhonda.

I travelled to my sister Rhonda’s house this morning and she not only let me take pictures of her home for this blog, but she made a lovely lunch for us to share.

This window is in her sitting room. Her dining area, sitting room and living room curtains are made from an InWeave crinkled sheer fabric.

This is in the living room. You can see the curtains here have a valence, while the dining and sitting room curtains are simpler.

This is a lace covered lampshade I sewed for Rhonda many moons ago. As you can see lamps are a good place to display tassels.

Dining area curtains with no valence.

Tomorrow I will show the bedroom. Rhonda just sewed a bedspread, bed skirt, throw, pillows and curtains all from InWeave fabrics.
