Specifics:
• Type of Fabric: Mid to Heavyweight Denim (Twill) Fabric - about 10 1/2 - 11 oz. per square yard. 100% cotton. Twill (diagonal) weave - appears to be 3 x 1 diagonal twill - this helps the fabric conform to the body. This is a true denim - it is color printed over a lighter background. It is PREWASHED by the manufacturer and intended primarily for use in home decor.
• Pattern/Color: Red/Gold Stripe. The reds in this fabric lean more toward "rusty" reds than toward burgundy yet they are not a true rust. The reds remind me of hot pepper (cayenne) and paprika - a rich chili pepper red. There are lighter and darker stripes of the red but to me they still fall in that chili pepper range. The lighter, widest stripe also leans a little toward raspberry. The gold is a deep goldenrod or mustard. Not overly bright or yellow but definitely a mellow gold. There are also very narrow stripes in olive green and in off-white. The crayons are Crayola's "Goldenrod" and "Maroon" and were the closest crayons I could find to the color of the fabric. The "Goldenrod" crayon is a fairly close match for the gold in the fabric. But the fabric is a little more "peppery" than the "Maroon" crayon. The stripes run parallel to the selvege (up & down the length of the fabric). The overall stripe pattern is wide and has an 8" horizontal repeat. There are between 7 and 8 repeats of the stripe pattern across the width of the fabric.
• Width: 62" wide including 1/2" selveges;
• Care: Machine wash cool/warm, tumble dry warm or permanent press. Pre-washed & pre-shrunk by the manufacturer.
• Weight: About 10 1/2 to 11 oz. per square yard. Lighter in weight than the heaviest traditional Levis, Wranglers, etc. (they are usually about 14 oz. denim) but this fabric is similar in weight to many jeans that you find in the stores. Should should provide good coverage over almost any fabric (or over the body). Specifically manufactured and intended for home decor - slipcovers, upholstery, drapery.
