Minky Wrap Shawl
Hope you all had a great day. It's time to post a new project. We have decided to show you how to sew a minky wrap shawl. This project is for the intermediate to advanced sewer. It will take approximately 1 to 1 1/2 hours to sew.
For this project we used the following: 2/3 yard of Minky Fabric
2/3 yard of China Silk Lining
Decorative Button
Thin Elastic
Thread
First you will straighten your edges and with right sides together pin all around your project. We stress that you really need to pin the minky and lining otherwise it will shift on you.
After you have pinned all four sides, you will then sew all around except leave approximately a 4 to 5 inch opening on one side. You will need to invert your shawl.
After you have finished sewing and have inverted your shawl, you will then decide where you want to sew your button. After you decide, sew on your button by sewing between the layers.
Next you will decide where you want the thin elastic to come out of. You will need to cut through a few stitches and pull it through to make a loop. We made this loop approximately 1/4". Do not make it any bigger as it will stretch. Our picture is a close up enlarged for you to see. Remember you will need to invert part of your shawl to sew in this elastic loop.
After you have successfully completed these two steps, then you will finish your minky wrap shawl by slip stitching the opening.
When completed, you will have a minky wrap shawl ready to be worn for those special events.
