Upholstery

Since we have been focusing the past week on sewing, we are going to switch to upholstery.  Upholstering a piece of furniture is not too difficult, you just need to be patient.  Sometimes taking the old piece of furniture apart is more time consuming that actually doing the upholstering.  If you have a piece of old furniture that you would like to change the look of, take a chance and do your own upholstering and update it.  When upholstering, take it one step at a time.  Do not try to finish it all in one day if it is a larger piece.  A little at a time will make it a lot more fun and when you have completed your project, you will feel like you have accomplished something that few people do.

If you are looking for upholstery fabric, check out In-Weave in Hawarden, Iowa.  They have a huge assortment of upholstery fabric at reasonable prices.  If you are hesitant to try an upholstery job, find a small piece of furniture at a garage sale or thrift store that you can practice on.  This way it will give you a feel of what to expect.  We have shown a few projects with upholstery in which we have given you step by step instruction.   Have a great evening.
